I wanted to provide you an update regarding robbery, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Swift arrest following robbery of elderly victim in Richmond
On 27 January at around 15:53, an 83‑year‑old woman was knocked to the ground at a cashpoint as she withdrew £250. The suspect took the money and ran towards Eton Street. Officers immediately began multiple CCTV enquiries and secured a key third‑party witness account.
On 30 January, the suspect was spotted off duty by PS Wright, whose quick actions enabled South Richmond officers to attend and make the arrest. The suspect was subsequently charged and remanded to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on 31 January 2026.
Our thoughts remain with the victim, and we want to thank the community for their support throughout this investigation.
